The Pont Clemenceau and Zmyslony Memorials

Ceremony held at Pont Clemenceau bridge, crossing the river Seine where there is a plaque to honour the Resistance fighters of vernon. After it was a short march down Rue d`Albufera to the crossroad with Rue Carnot, where there is a plaque to Pierre Zmyslony  18 yrs of age and  the F.F.I.

Plaque on Pont Clemenceau, The Resistance was strong at this location, after the destruction of the bridge on the nights of the 18-19th Aug 1944, the Germans tried to re conquer the town of Vernon from the 19th - 25th Aug 1944, but were broken by the determination of the French Resistance.
`Remember the sacrifices of our hero`s who died for Vernon and for France`
